Honey is supposedly a greyhound mix. She came to Homestretch from the Carson shelter, where she had been an owner turn in at the ripe old age of 15 yrs.! She was severely dehydrated and had a bad case of pancreatitis. We are hoping Honey can pull thru and have some quality time left. Please keep her in your thoughts.

Lucas is back and available for adoption. He needs a structured environment and some obedience training to become a great companion. He is still acting like a puppy which means he is very active and curious about just about everything. More later,

Wayne is a dork. He’s friendly, outgoing and outspoken. We have not heard him bark, but he does roo often to greet people and get the party started. Wayne is happy, playful and exuberant. He is quite the handsome fellow, too. Wayne would do well in a household where he gets lots of attention and socializing. In return, he will make you laugh! Adopted!

Zara would like to thank everyone who contributed so she could have her hip surgery. It was very successful and she is now home and recuperating nicely. She’s doing all of her physical therapy exercises and taking her slow walks like a little trooper. Zara isn’t too thrilled with all of the crate rest, but knows it will enable her to eventually find her forever home. We have high hopes she will continue to gain strength, flexibility and mobility. Please keep Zara in your thoughts as she works towards a pain-free future.

Keenan is a complete silly-butt. He’s a very small, lanky boy with a very “unusual” face. We had his head x-rayed to find out what was going on, as it is very noticeably different. The Drs. think his condition is congenital and that nothing needs to be done surgically to correct the situation. However, Keenan did have a strange little canine tooth that had abcessed into his sinus cavity. Ouchy-Boo-Boo! The tooth was removed, the area flushed. Keenan’s face is all healed up now. He did have a case of sciatica, but has shown great improvement with medication and acupuncture. Drs. say he is now already to go. Adopted!

Cricket is a confident girl, though she probably shouldn’t be, since she is new to this world and doesn’t even know how to walk on a leash. That being said, she is housetrained and minds her manners pretty well… for a spaz ;-) Okay, puppies aren’t my favorite. Does it show? Let me try again. Cricket is beautiful and elegant. She’s playful and happy. She doesn’t tear things up around the house and gets along with her housemates. However, she does seem to prefer boys to girls, as she’s a bit on the dominant side. Cricket could probably live as only dog, too.

Jester is a very tall, very lanky drink of water. He has the sweetest face, which carries the most innocent and unsure expression. That pretty much sums up this boy. He’s affectionate and well mannered, but hasn’t gotten used to the great big world that is waiting for him. However, he’s getting the hang of things and likes what he sees, so far – good food (and lots of it), soft places to rest, kind voices and gentle hands. He will make someone a most fabulous companion. He should go to a home with another dog, so he can learn the ropes with less stress.

Red is a sweet boy who is very much on the small side. He’s friendly once he warms up, but can be a bit unsure of things at first. He’s very easy to live with and gets along with his other greyhound housemates nicely. He will need some confidence building, but will be well worth it. Red is a smart cookie. He has discovered that toys are good, but food is better. Adopted!

Blitzer came in with a broken wrist. The surgeon is hoping it will heal successfully without surgery. We won’t know for sure, for several weeks. Let’s hope the splinting is enough! Medical Hold due to broken ankle.

Daddle is a petite, wisp of a girl. She’s still a baby, as she won’t be 2 yrs. old till March. She’s very energetic and has trouble holding still. If you even look at her, she starts twitching and wiggling. Good luck trying to clip her toenails! She’s super cute and happy, though still a bit unsure of what’s going on. Daddle gets along with larger dogs, but no kitties and small dogs for this pistol. If you are looking for laughs and a good time, she’s your girl. If you are looking for calm and mature, not so much.
